Learn 2 Ride Day

Learn 2 Ride Day: Empowering Families and Building Lifelong Biking Skills

Join us on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month for our Learn 2 Ride Day events! These events provide a fun and supportive environment where kids, parents, teenagers, and adults of all ages can learn the joy of biking. Held from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Westpark Field and Arroyo Verde, these sessions are designed to help parents teach their children how to ride, while also promoting road safety and building lifelong cycling habits.

Guidance and Expert Support

At Learn 2 Ride Day, we understand that learning to ride a bike is a big milestone for kids—and parents, too! Our event is focused on providing families with all the tools they need to succeed. Bike 4 a Cause will set up a booth where parents can receive a 4-step guide on teaching their children how to ride using the grassy hill method—an expert-recommended, science-backed (physics) method. Unlike training wheels, which can delay the learning process, the grassy hill method allows children to develop balance faster and more effectively. By following this simple guide, kids will build confidence and balance as they coast down gentle grassy slopes, making it a quicker and safer way to learn.

Earn Your Free Bike 4 a Cause T-Shirt!

When you or your child successfully learn to ride at one of our events, you’ll earn a free Bike 4 a Cause t-shirt as a reward for your achievement. It's a symbol of your progress and your commitment to an active lifestyle!

In addition to the guide, our League Certified Bike Safety Instructors will be on hand to offer expert consultation. Their experience in road safety and biking instruction ensures that families leave the event feeling confident and ready to ride on their own.

Safety First: Sharing Knowledge

Biking safely is just as important as learning how to ride. At each Learn 2 Ride Day event, we share key safety updates and tips to ensure parents and young riders stay informed about the latest biking laws and best practices. With the rise of e-bikes, we also focus on educating teens about riding responsibly, sharing the road, and biking safely.

Who Can Join?

While our Learn 2 Ride Day events are primarily promoted to families with young children, we welcome people of all ages who want to learn to ride. Teenagers and adults who never had the chance to learn or who are looking for a refresher are also encouraged to join. Our inclusive atmosphere ensures that everyone can succeed, regardless of their age or skill level.

This event is supported by partnerships with VUSD, the City of Ventura, and various local church congregations to ensure a broad community reach.

Peer-to-Peer Encouragement and Learning

Learn 2 Ride events foster a sense of peer encouragement and community-based learning among youth. Kids will have the opportunity to support and motivate each other through their learning journey. Whether it's helping a peer through the 4-step guide or sharing tips on balance and technique, these sessions encourage a positive, collaborative environment where young riders feel empowered to succeed.

Healthy and Social Fun

Learn 2 Ride isn’t just about biking—it’s about bringing families and communities together, creating a fun, social atmosphere, and helping kids gain confidence. Our events give children the chance to learn and grow with support from their peers while practicing their skills in a safe, encouraging environment. The sense of achievement when a child rides independently for the first time is a joy shared by parents, instructors, and the entire Bike 4 a Cause team.
